M is for My Goal Funny

This comic makes me laugh.

Wouldn't it be so great if all the words we write in a million other places "counted?" Because honestly-- I want credit for them SOMEWHERE. ;o)

Wait...I'm not allowed to count blogging, Facebook, or Twitter?! Crap.

If every word I wrote counted, I'd have an amazing word count. If we're only counting ones that make sense, meh. Not so much :-)

My goal for my novel is just 250 a day and that's most often a struggle.

I might reach a 1000 words TOTAL for one day if I counted all the blog commenting I do. : ) That would make me feel better, in deed!

Oh, yes - definitely agree with that;-)

While I don't count this in my word count, I definitely count time in the blogosphere as writing time. :)

It's better to write something than nothing. So it sort of counts.

This goes for shopping lists too? :-)

Thanks for the recipe, Peggy!

Oh gosh, if I counted all the words I do for blogging and facebook, I think I'd have a novel a day.

I definitely wish those counted! Word goals would be so much easier. Great find, Peggy!

Less than ten tweets a day will give you your word count! What do you mean it doesn't count!?

Ha! I'm with you.

I keep my diary as a word doc running yearly from Sept to Sept last year it was 170,000 words and so far this year it is 98,000 words. So I am hoping a five year diary should reach one million words. I will stop then and be locked up.

Hey Peggy. New follower waving. Talk about a comic hitting the nail on the head. Good giggle. Thanks.

I can write so easily, unless it's a diary. Just can't seem to put that one together... funny huh? ;D

I love Debbie's jokes! (Have you seen the one about conferences and wearing funny hats? hilarious)

Oh lord, I feel that way about my blog all the time. Woops.

If only my blog, twitter, journal, and shopping lists could count!

Good one. Twitter word count helped me realize how quickly I can write an entire novel with just a little daily effort.

Nice to meet you on the A-Z. Have a good weekend. :)

Perfect...if only twitter, blogs, facebook updates counted *sigh*

Amanda Heitler said...

Alas that they don't.

New follower - having found you via A-Z.

Very funny, Peggy! And I want that credit too :)

Who's to say they don't?

Blog posts, tweets, FB status updates, e-mails, etc. are very different animals from story writing, but it's still writing. I think as long as you are putting real thought and effort into making those things coherent - and not just 'lol u mad bro' - then it certainly does count.

It counts just as much as cookies eaten standing up don't have calories. But it makes me feel like I am accomplishing something, regardless of whether or not that WIP grows. This may be were very specific AND achievable goals, like word goals on specific projects, will help.

Kristine said...

Hahahaha! Then those that update facebook and twitter all day about each move they make would reach their goals more often! Hahaha!

Nicole said...

Doesn't it just feel that way sometimes? ;) Thanks for the humor.

Kelley Lynn said...

Oh man, I wish I could use the projects and trip reports at my 9 to 5.

Though adhesives and sheer strength and peel resistance have NOTHING to do with my current WIP ;)

Hilarious! New meaning to procrastinating!

Ha! I wish those words counted. :)

Yes, especially grocery lists! They should count.

Hi Peggy, I've given you The Sunshine Award on my blog today. Stop by and grab it if you're interested.

Hi Peggy, of course they count! As does writing cheques and c.c stubs (not much of that now with chip and pin) notes to the milkman and telephone messages that I always manage to write down incorrectly, particularly telephone numbers and anything you write in the middle of the night on a notepad that you can't see.

If only the spoken word counted too. Words like: pick up your toys. put your back pack away. hang up your coat. you know, those things. Love the comic strip!
